Product Description My story starts like this: "I was introduced to Iraq up close and personal flying 100 ft off the ground in a Blackhawk helicopter. I was on my way to Mosul from Camp Anaconda and we flew with the doors open, gunners at the ready, rising and falling with the contours of the land. Following the Tigris River north, we passed over farms, villages, isolated mud huts and herds of sheep. Little children waved and smiled while their parents stared at us with sullen faces..... for thousands of years armies have marched across this same land seeking conquest and empire and treasure. And here I am and I'm wearing my Elvis shades."

A Witty and Clever author with Interesting Stories September 26, 2007 Henry Abbott (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I know there are many out there with loved ones in Iraq serving our country. Have you ever wondered what life on the base is like for these soldiers? Though a civilian contractor, and not a solider himself, the author of this book offers gives us the inside scoop about life on the base. The writing is clever. The jokes are witty. The serious moments bring tears to your eyes. Overall this is a great book. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in Iraq or to anyone who wants a good read.
