Good supplement to "Story of the World Ancient History" from a Biblical Perspective July 26, 2010 R. Smith (United States) I bought this book to supplement activities from a Biblical Perspective to go with Story of the World, Volume 1, Ancient Times. Although that book is somewhat 'Christian' I wanted to provide additional activities. This book has a nice choice of things that we can use both for that, and also for later 'just for fun' or other activities. They are different ideas than are suggested other places, and provide nice background information to go along with the activities. For example, we've had a 'nomad feast' that was easy to make, and the kids LOVED. I would recommend for a variety of uses.

This book is AWESOME! I purchased this as part of a homeschool curriculum suggestion, and am VERY glad that I did. It takes the challenge of encouraging kids to learn about the old testament to a whole new level. This book has tons of fascinating interactive ideas to draw kids and adults alike into reliving the Old Testament Days....and having fun doing it! It certainly makes learning history much more enjoyable when you are encouraged to have fun and be creative.

I got this for homeschool purposes. I am able to use it not only at home but also for church purposes. This crafts and the information provided within the book are wonderful to help young children understand how day-to-day things were so different in the ancient world than they are now. All of the crafts are child appropriate.
Excellent resource. November 6, 2008 A. Dean Billings II (Ball Ground, GA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great book to help teach Biblical history. The choices in this are seem so few, as if the world is denying the existence of the Hebrew people. (Imagine that.) Wonderful activities that allow children to see basic concepts of life in early history. Also helpful for teaching life in iron age/bronze age culture for the non-religious. My children enjoyed stomping in clay to make bricks and a least one of them enjoyed the lentil stew. I highly recommend adding this to your curriculum.
Love this Book! September 8, 2008 K. Nugent (Wake Forest, NC USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My kids have really enjoyed using this book to supplement their unit on ancient Eygypt and Old Testament studies. It appeals to my first, third and fifth grade children, and many of the activities are such that they can open up the book and do the projects themselves - start to finish. I also like that it has a page or so of historical information to give some context and/or background to the projects. This is easy and fun for the kids to read on their own, but also great for me to share with them in a group setting. An excellent choice for homeschooling, or for just doing home Bible learning with your kids (like family devotions). Great for Sunday schools too.
