Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Working effectively in the classroom setting with young children-those with developmental challenges and those with typical development-is the sole focus of this research-based book written by master teachers. Written in jargon-free language, it will enable teachers, parents and others involved in children's education to create and put into practice top-quality programs that will meet the needs of all children, including those experiencing significant challenges in physical, cognitive, language, social, or behavioral development. When this material is put into practice, every child with his or her own interests and capabilities can be assured optimal and appropriate learning opportunities in a setting where they are included and accepted by other children. To further support each child's learning and growth, particular emphasis has been placed on collaboration with parents in developing their child's intervention program.

I have been teaching a course on Exceptional Development for a university for about 5 years now, and have used this textbook all the way through. This book is FANTASTIC. It is easy to read, easy to follow, and set up in a logical manner. It gives a nice broad overview of exceptional development, and I recommend my students keep this book to refer to in the futre as well. Highly recommended!
