Product Description
The Adderhead--his immortality bound in a book by Meggie's father, Mo--has ordered his henchmen to plunder the villages. The peasants' only defense is a band of outlaws led by the Bluejay--Mo's fictitious double, whose identity he has reluctantly adopted. But the Book of Immortality is unraveling, and the Adderhead again fears the White Women of Death. To bring the renegade Bluejay back to repair the book, the Adderhead kidnaps all the children in the kingdom, dooming them to slavery in his silver mines unless Mo surrends. First Dustfinger, now Mo: Can anyone save this cursed story?

The all-time best children's author of our time. January 1, 2009 A. Davis 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love Cornelia Funke and anything she writes. I recently discovered a book that told of a young lady that put the original german text of one of her beloved tales onto the hands of the Hary Potter Series publisher. I am so grateful for that! This book was an AMAZING conclusion to the series! Full of new characters and the ones I have come to care about, too. I am DYING to see how they roll this new Favorite Fairytale out in Hollywood. Just 22 days from the moment I am writing this until the movie version of the first book, Inkheart!
Wonderful ending to a wonderful trilogy! December 31, 2008 JoJo (Washington state) I got this book for Christmas and just started reading it yesterday, and I finished it this afternoon! I could not put it down. The book is wonderfully well-written and I couldn't have asked for a better ending.
The beginning of the book starts off a bit slow, and luckily there is an "A to Z of Inkheart" in the back to remind you of who all the characters are (since it does get a little confusing), but even considering this the story captivated me just as it did in Inkheart and Inkspell. Funke has written an exciting conclusion to this series.
I don't know about you, but I like to get lost in the books I read, and these books definitely did that for me. Funke's writing captures the heart and keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way to the end. Great writing, and highly recommended!
Amazing end to the most intriguing of trilogies December 30, 2008 S. M. Nolte (Bellevue, NE USA) It makes me sad to read some of these reviews from people who thought INKDEATH was "boring" and that "absolutely nothing happened". I fell in love with these characters in INKHEART and followed them into the Inkworld in INKSPELL (probably the best of the three books). No, Meggie is probably not the protagonist in this finale, but the other "supporting actors" are pulled to the forefront, and their performances are beyond all expectation. The relationships between all the characters are more fully explored, especially the seemingly eternal bond between Mo and Dustfinger (my ultimate-favorite character). INKDEATH is much more dark and gruesome than the other two, and younger audiences should probably stick with INKHEART. However, all storylines are wrapped up beautifully, good wins out in the end, and the final chapters are skillfully written...I could not put the book down from about p.200 till the end. I have never in my 40+ years of reading been so invested in characters....I was sad in the end, only because I wouldn't "see" them anymore. I think if you loved the first two, you will not be disappointed by INKDEATH...you will want to stay in the Inkworld forever.
