 A much needed book if you have a troubled teen December 16, 2008

The teen years are difficult for all parents and this book sure did help me! In addition to the christian insight it provides, it has step-by-step instructions on praying for your child. It's definately not just for parents of teens because I wished I would have started sooner!

In The Power of a praying Parent, Stormie Omartian writes, "I don't know how to be the perfect parent for my children," I said to God in desperation one day. "I need You to help me raise them."

In her book, Mrs. Omartian, shares specific prayers that God taught her to pray for every area of her childrens' lives. I found this helpful not only for me to pray for my adult children but for my grandchildren as well.

They say there isn't a manual for raising our kids. However, I believe this book should be handed out as you leave the hospital with your newborn! I have learned so much from reading and re-reading this book over the past few years. It is practical and easy to read. I believe in the power of prayer but wasn't always sure how to do it. This book touches on all the important aspects of a childs life. Like Stormie says, "we can't leave our kids lives to chance..."
