Product Description Jolene Brackey has a vision. A vision that will soon look beyond the challenges of Alzheimer's disease and focus more of our energy on creating moments of joy. When a person has short-term memory loss, his life is made up of moments. But if you think about it, our memory is made up of moments, too. We are not able to create a perfectly wonderful day with someone who has dementia, but it is absolutely attainable to create a perfectly wonderful moment; a moment that puts a smile on their face, a twinkle in their eye, or triggers a memory. Five minutes later, they won't remember what you did or said, but the feeling you left them with will linger.

A must read for caregivers July 24, 2008 Judy A. Johnson (Texas) Alzheimers is a very cruel disease that affects the entire family. This book has given us an insight into the daily struggles my father is going through. It focuses on enjoying the moments we have with him and has changed our attitudes and behaviors. I've read numerous books on the subject but none have compared to this book on practical suggestions and a positive attitude. My only regret is that I can't seem to find this book in bookstores any longer. I've given it to most of my family but still think it would help many others in their journeys with this disease.
What a wonderful read! July 21, 2008 Kristen Petersen (La Honda CA) My Mom has Alzheimers (or something darn close)and I have tried to understand how to work with her without my head exploding. I read this book and realized that by switching my perceptions/expectations and changing how I handled situations, my Mom and I could have a pretty good time together. And, it's working! Thank you for helping me enjoy being with my Mom again.
For you out there that have someone in your life with damaged brains, read this book. Kristen
It is important to create and get pleasure from moments of joy with those having dementia July 17, 2008 Susan Berg 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Jolene Brackey offers the caregiver and others with the task of helping those with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, some extremely useful strategies that work.
The reader also gains a keen understanding of why folks with these diseases behave the way they do, what these behaviors mean, how to prevent them, and what to do when they occur.
Brackey teaches the reader to create and savor moments that bring joy because some days that is all you get. just moments.
So before it is too late, read this book so you can create as many good moments of joy as possible.

Short & Simple June 4, 2008 Cara (Severn, MD) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Creating Moments...was recommended to me by Amy, a Nurse Practitioner of my Fathers. She would ask whenever she'd see me "Did you order the book yet?" & between being a master of procrastination & being the sole care taker of my Dad, even my best intentions never seems to come full circle. One night my phone rang & it was Amy asking again if I ordered the book, it just happened to be on her mind!!!! Well I immediately went on line and thought "this better be a great book" for all the bothering from her. Giving it 5 stars barely does it justice but thats the highest the scale goes. I love it because one minute you are learning something serious & the next you are laughing so hard at the stories Jolene has sprinkled through out the book. Order it (when you get a chance!) Care takers and family members alike will enjoy and be informed. Take Amy's word for it!! :-)
A must-read for everyone connected to the disease! March 24, 2008 Grandma P (Minnesota USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book is absolutely the best I have read regarding the disease. I am a care-giver. The insights into the disease, how to make the best of it for you and for them is invaluable. You can create moments of joy for everyone. Tips and tricks are sensational. I will read it again and again as the disease progresses. I just can't recommend it enough.
