The endgame drama begins in this volume... February 9, 2007 N. S. Michael (New Mexico) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
...as Aoi is summoned home due to the sudden illness of her father. At least, that's what she was told. Instead she's wisked off to the Hanabishi estate where the OTHER Kaoru reenters the narrative with designs of marriage to Aoi on his mind. A prisoner of her own guilt and duty, Aoi must make the decision of her life; whether to marry the man she loves against the wishes of her family or to marry the man her parents wish and seal the familial deal between the two zaibatsu.
And, of course, all this is happening without the REAL Kaoru or anyone else from the harem knowing... but the longer she stays away without contacting them, the more worried they get. Not to mention that all this is happening in Tina's final days in Japan.
To lighten the mood, this volume also includes a little short with Chika and friends where one of the three is seen with *shock* a boy! And it isn't Chika! *double shock*
Most rom/coms go through intensive bits of drama, especially towards the end of their run, and Ai Yori Aoshi is no exception... expect to read much on Aoi's inner conflict as the other Kaoru does his darnedest to convince her to marry him.
Art is par for the course, with the only service of the book coming from the Chika-gumi doing their usual swimsuit routine.
Check it out in the store if you've not read any of the previous volumes, as this is not the volume to randomly jump in on. Enjoy!
